How can we design the security into the city in such a way that it is strengthing the qualities of urban life, instead of weaking them (as is happing now). Could we use architecture, urban planning to give an idea how this could and should happen? Why use the new technologies only to limit our use of urban spaces; to limit the amount of chances, possiblities, meeting places. Could we come up with new and inventive ways where technology is not only a security layer, covering the city, but also a tool that is available to all the inhabitants of the city. After the lecture at the NAi (15/11/2007) I will add more designs. |
